On August 5, Wu Pingchuan, Chair of the University Council, warmly met with students from Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences, Germany, who were visiting for the 2025 Sino-German Students Academic Summer Camp.
Wu extended heartfelt greetings to the students who had traveled from afar. Citing a German proverb “Mountains and valleys don’t meet, but people do.” he noted, China is a nation of courtesy, where hospitality runs deep, so the summer camp serves as a bridge of friendship spanning continents.
Wu also shared three hopes for the German students: to make more Chinese friends and forge genuine connections through daily interactions; to gain a deeper understanding of China by exploring museums and historic streets to experience China’s rich traditions, and visiting innovation parks and urban communities to observe the dynamism of contemporary China in the economy, technology, and social governance; to inspire and be inspired by contributing advanced knowledge and fresh ideas while engaging with Chinese peers. Wu wished the students a memorable stay at Hefei University(HFU), rich in both learning and friendship.
The German students introduced themselves, sharing their academic backgrounds and keen interest in Chinese culture. They said they were honored to join the summer camp and thanked HFU for providing a valuable platform for exchange. “We are more than willing to help Chinese students improve their language skills and prepare for future studies and life in Germany,” said student representative Simon Schulze, “At the same time, we look forward to making more Chinese friends and gaining a deeper understanding of China’s fascinating culture and contemporary society.”
