On December 31, the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China announced the approval results of Chinese-foreign cooperative education institutions and programs. International College of Hefei University, a collaborative initiative between Hefei University (HFU) and Osnabruck University of Applied Sciences(Germany), has been officially approved for establishment, which is the second Chinese-foreign cooperative education institution in Anhui Province. This is a significant milestone for HFU to serve the national strategy of education opening-up and meet the talent demands of Anhui’s new energy vehicle industry chain, as well as a landmark in HFU’s journey of internationalized education.
The International College of Hefei University is jointly established by HFU and Osnabruck University of Applied Sciences, a member of the University of Applied Sciences 7 (UAS7) in Germany ranking the 4th among 205 universities of applied sciences in the assessment conducted by StudyCheck Germany. Boasting disciplinary strengths, it has forged a 40-year cooperative bond with HFU. The International College is committed to developing into a high-level Chinese-foreign cooperative education institution with advanced educational philosophies, innovative teaching models, and mature management experience. Meanwhile, it strives to cultivate professionals with an international perspective, innovative capabilities, and global competitiveness in the fields of intelligent manufacturing and artificial intelligence, meeting the needs of economic and social development.
The College launches three undergraduate programs in its first intake, namely Vehicle Engineering, Information and Computing Science, and Logistics Management, with the “4+0” training mode and teaching faculty from both parties. Students who complete the required credits and meet the graduation and degree-awarding standards will be conferred degrees by the two universities, making it possible for students to enjoy overseas education without going abroad. In the future, the College will expand its programs to postgraduate programs.
In recent years, HFU has been consistently implementing the Outline of Plan for Building China into a Leading Country in Education (2024-2035), and accelerating the process of internationalized education. The successful approval of the International College has opened up HFU’s brand-new chapter for high-level Chinese-foreign cooperative education. It has further enhanced its capacity to bring in high-quality international educational resources for relevant disciplines and talent cultivation, thereby providing solid intellectual support for the economic and social development as well as industrial transformation and upgrading of Anhui Province.
