Recently, a cultural exchange event hosted by the Confucius Institute at Stralsund (Germany) was held at Stralsund Town Hall. Centered on the special topic Headache from the Perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it vividly presented the unique charm of TCM culture to local residents. Ms. Mano, a TCM practitioner, was invited as the keynote speaker.
During the lecture, Ms. Mano tried to analyze the etiology and pathogenesis of headaches based on TCM theories and explain TCM approach to syndrome differentiation. She introduced practical approaches including acupuncture, herbal remedies, dietary therapy programs, and daily home care, with an emphasis on the TCM philosophy of “preventive treatment of disease”. She also compared the complementary strengths of TCM and Western medicine in headache diagnosis and treatment, helping attendees gain a well-rounded understanding of the unique value of TCM.
Nearly 20 German attendees took part in the lecture, including some local physicians. The atmosphere was warm and lively. Some participants remarked, TCM is not only a profound treasure of traditional Chinese culture, but also delivers tangible benefits for everyday health care, so they looked forward to more of this kind organized by the Confucius Institute.
The Confucius Institute at Stralsund has long been committed to popularizing TCM knowledge among the local public. This special lecture is a valuable practice for the Institute in fulfilling its cultural communication mission, helping TCM culture take root in Germany and deepen people-to-people exchanges and mutual learning between the two countries.
