On the evening of July 17, 2026, the Stralsund Confucius Institute (Germany) marked its 10th anniversary with a concert at the cultural auditorium of Stralsund City Hall. Nearly 60 local residents attended the event.
The concert featured Duo Pertar, a German-Chinese ensemble formed by German guitarist Christian Sievers and Nanjing-born Chinese percussionist Chen Lin. The program opened with the piece “Loong Dance” and closed with two well-known pieces, “Beautiful Xinjiang”and “Horse Racing.”
Chinese and Western instruments shared the stage throughout the concert. Chen performed on the marimba, vibraphone, yangqin and Chinese bass drum, while Sievers played classical and electric guitars as well as the daruan, a traditional Chinese plucked instrument. Featuring jazz, tango, folk and contemporary music, the program showcased a blend of Chinese and Western musical traditions.
Established by Hefei University in Germany, the Stralsund Confucius Institute was officially inaugurated in August 2016. Over the past decade, it has offered Chinese-language education and cultural programs, providing local residents with opportunities to learn more about China and supporting regular people-to-people exchanges between China and Germany. The anniversary concert celebrated the Institute’s first decade and highlighted its continuing role in bilateral cultural exchange.
