The national finals of the second National Collegiate Intelligent Construction Competition recently concluded in Kunming, Yunnan province, bringing together 235 teams from 148 universities across China. Two teams from Hefei University(HFU) won national first prizes, taking top honors in the Civil Engineering and Transportation categories. The results marked HFU’s best performance in the competition to date.
The competition focused on emerging technologies in intelligent construction, including 3D laser scanning, digital twins, Smart IoT (Internet of Things) and intelligent monitoring. Working from real-world engineering scenarios, participants were required to develop project designs, verify structural performance, simulate construction processes and assess project benefits. The tasks tested both interdisciplinary knowledge and practical engineering skills.
Both teams from HFU performed an excellent job in the project presentation, oral defense and question-and-answer sessions with judges. The results reflect HFU’s efforts to combine technological innovation with practice-oriented education. It plans to further integrate industry, research and teaching, expand the use of intelligent construction technologies in civil engineering and transportation programs, and provide students with more opportunities to apply their knowledge through research and innovation projects.
